Ahmer Khan is a Director within EY’s Wealth & Asset Management practice with over 16 years of experience in serving banking, asset management and capital markets clients.

Ahmer services a broad range of clients including regulated funds, hedge funds, IFSC banks, fund administrators and investment managers. He also leads the treasury audit for the largest listed company in Ireland – CRH plc. He advises clients on a diverse range of topics including technical accounting, new regulation implementation, investment valuation and impact assessment of new accounting standards including IFRS 9, IFRS 15 and IFRS 16 as well as advice on implementation of new corporate governance regulations including CP86.

Over the course of his professional career, Ahmer has developed significant expertise in auditing complex structured finance vehicles, private equity deals and exotic financial instruments. He currently leads the audits of a large portfolio of the US Private Equity group – Lone Star. He also has expertise in AIFMD, UCITS, MiFID II, US GAAP and IFRS.

His experience also encompasses delivering a number of advisory led banking projects. He was a key member of the project team for the Central Bank sponsored Asset Quality Review (AQR) of AIB in 2013. In 2014, he led the Commercial Real Estate (CRE) workstream on the Ulster Bank AQR project. Previously with KPMG, Ahmer played a central role on the NAMA project and was tasked with advising and assisting NAMA in the audit of the valuations of the toxic bank loan assets purchased by NAMA. At KPMG London, he spent a year within the transaction services department and delivered a number of sell side financial due diligence projects including the sale of the UK operations of the National Australia Bank. Currently, Ahmer is assisting a number of clients with IFRS 9 and IFRS 13 implementation, investor money regulations and CP100 (Risk Assessment and Capital Planning for Fund Administrators).

Ahmer has been involved in a number of Irish Funds working groups including Investor Money sub-group. Ahmer is EY’s Investor Money solutions lead and has helped a number of clients with the implementation of the new regulations. He is also EY’s representative on the Irish Debt Securities Association.

Ahmer is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ireland and holds a Bachelor of Accounting and Finance degree from Dublin City University.
