I am delighted to share EY’s flagship thought leadership report Path to Cyber Resilience: Sense, resist, react.  Our report, now in it’s 19th year, was launched at the EY Cyber Week – a series of events throughout the week of 16 January 2017 which marked the launch of EY’s state-of-the-art Advanced Security Centre (ASC).

Our cutting edge service capability has now doubled in size, establishing EY as the first ‘Big 4’ professional services firm in Ireland to have an in-market Security Operations Centre serving our clients.

This year’s report focuses on the results of 1,735 participants across more than 20 sectors from the 2016-17 EY Global Information Security Survey (GISS).

Our teams spoke to CIOs, CISOs and other executives across the globe about how organizations can increase their cyber relicience – that is, how well they are able to sense, resist and react to today’s cyber threats, and how can they recover and become fully operational again.

Despite the progress that has been made over the years in response to cybersecurity, the survey revealed:

  • 57% of organizations have had a recent significant cybersecurity incident
  • 74% consider the actions of careless employees to be the most likely source of an attack
  • 86% do not have a cybersecurity function that fully meets their organizations’ needs.

We hope you find the report insightful.  If you would like to learn more about what this means for your organisation, please contact me or your usual EY advisor.
